There is no shortage of AI video models in 2026. There is a shortage of straight answers about which one to actually open when you have a shot to make. So I ran the top six through the same five tests, the same prompts, scored the same way, and watched every frame. The order they finished in isn't a hot take. It's the consensus the best creators already work by: Seedance 2.0 on top, and not by a little.
| Rank | Model | Score | The verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| ๐ฅ 1 | Seedance 2.0 | 22.0 / 25 | The best, and it isn't close. Wins almost every test. |
| ๐ฅ 2 | Kling 3.0 | 21.0 / 25 | The affordable workhorse. Best lip-sync, rock-solid. |
| ๐ฅ 3 | Gemini Omni | 20.5 / 25 | The text and motion-graphics specialist. |
| 4 | Grok | 15.5 / 25 | The cheap one, improving faster than anything. |
| 5 | Happy Horse 1.1 | 14.5 / 25 | Open-source and gorgeous, until the physics slips. |
| 6 | Veo 3.1 | 14.0 / 25 | Faded from the practical top tier. |
How I Tested
Five tests, five prompts, every model given the exact same instruction, pure text-to-video at a comparable tier. Each clip was scored out of five on the one thing its prompt was built to expose: prompt adherence and camera control, physics, lip-sync and voice, continuity, and cinematic quality.
One honest caveat.
Every score is a single generation. AI video is stochastic, so one roll can flatter or sink a model. Where a result looked like a fluke, I say so. Treat each number as one careful data point, not a physical constant.
Test 1: Prompt Adherence & Camera Control
The prompt asked for nine specific things in a diner scene and, the hard part, a full 180-degree camera orbit around the woman to reveal a jukebox behind her.
Winner: Seedance 2.0.
It was the only model that actually orbited. Kling rendered the cleanest objects but swung only about halfway. Gemini Omni was faithful and steady. Grok fumbled the coffee glass. Veo barely moved the camera at all and let its neon sign warp. Happy Horse mangled the on-screen text.
Ranking: Seedance 4.5, Kling 4.5, Gemini Omni 4.0, Grok 3.75, Happy Horse 3.0, Veo 2.5.
Test 2: Physics & Motion
A pour of thick amber syrup with visible surface tension, a bubble rising and popping, and ice cubes displaced by the liquid.
Winner: Seedance 2.0.
Near-indistinguishable from real footage. Veo's materials were excellent too. Kling's rendering was clean but the fluid ran thin. Gemini Omni was solid. Grok made the liquid gluey and too thick. Happy Horse's physics fell apart, almost certainly a bad roll for the open-arena leader.
Ranking: Seedance 5.0, Veo 4.0, Kling 4.0, Gemini Omni 3.5, Grok 3.5, Happy Horse 2.0. A shared miss: not one model nailed true syrup viscosity.
Test 3: Lip-Sync, Voice & Realism
One line to camera in candlelight, "I told you it wasn't over," with a subtle shift from calm to a knowing smirk.
Winner: a tie, Kling 3.0 and Gemini Omni.
Both nailed the sync and the voice. Seedance was excellent too, though its facial expressions were a touch stiff, worth saying honestly. Happy Horse and Veo were solid, but Veo oddly repeated the line, which no human does. Grok's lip-sync broke outright.
Ranking: Kling 5.0, Gemini Omni 5.0, Seedance 4.25, Happy Horse 3.5, Veo 3.5, Grok 2.0.
Test 4: Scene Continuity
A single unbroken kitchen tracking shot: a chef carrying a hot stockpot past two sous-chefs, nothing allowed to morph or flicker.
Winner: Kling 3.0.
The cleanest, most stable move. Seedance held continuity well, with one telling slip that showed up across several models: the chef gripped a scorching pot bare-handed, no cloth. Grok narrated the scene by talking to itself. Veo walked the chef and a server straight through a solid prep table.
Ranking: Kling 4.5, Seedance 4.0, Gemini Omni 3.5, Grok 2.5, Happy Horse 2.0, Veo 2.0.
Test 5: Cinematic Fidelity
A rain-soaked neon alley, anamorphic flares, a teal-and-amber grade, volumetric light through mist.
Winner: Gemini Omni.
The best-looking single frame of the test, Google's model earning its keep on pure look. Seedance was right behind with flawless flares and reflections. Happy Horse was genuinely beautiful. Kling was let down by its recurring weakness, garbled in-frame text. Veo's grade was gorgeous, but its lens flares floated free of any light source, the classic AI tell.
Ranking: Gemini Omni 4.5, Seedance 4.25, Happy Horse 4.0, Grok 3.75, Kling 3.0, Veo 2.0.
"In 2026, the best AI video generator isn't a debate. It's Seedance 2.0, and the only real question is which model you pair with it."
What Each Model Is Actually For
Seedance 2.0, the default.
Best in almost every aspect: motion, physics, camera control, and reference handling. If you learn one video model this year, learn this one.
Kling 3.0, the value pick.
Nearly as good, with the best lip-sync in the test, and far cheaper. It was the go-to before Seedance arrived, and plenty of people still reach for it. The cheapest way to run it heavily is Higgsfield's Creator plan, which gives you unlimited Kling 3.0 generations for a week.
Gemini Omni, for text and motion graphics.
Nothing else renders clean, legible on-screen text and typography like it does, which makes it the model for explainers, kinetic type, and Vox-style motion-graphics videos. Its audio is superb too.
Grok, the cheap one to watch.
Rough around the edges today, but xAI is improving it faster than any other budget tool. Good for quick, cheap drafts while it climbs.
Happy Horse 1.1, the open-source pick.
Strong among the open and Chinese models, though not the overall number one. Beautiful cinematics and open weights you can self-host, if you can forgive the occasional physics wobble.
Veo 3.1, past its moment.
It used to trade blows with Sora 2. Today it has slipped out of the practical top tier: elite audio when a roll lands, but it ignored the camera, floated its flares, and lost the continuity test. Not the one most creators open first anymore.
The 15-Second Torture Test
[DUMMY SECTION, replace with your Times Square results.]
To finish, every model got a single 15-second shot: rain-soaked Times Square, a scrolling news ticker, wet-asphalt reflections, an umbrella snapping open, and a spoken line, all at once. Drop your side-by-side clip below, add a line on each model, then crown the finale winner.
My prediction from the five tests: Seedance takes it, with Gemini Omni pushing hardest on look and audio.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best AI video generator in 2026?
Seedance 2.0, and it isn't close. It won or tied almost every test, with the best motion, physics, and the only reliable camera control. Kling 3.0 is the best-value runner-up.
Is Veo 3.1 still worth using?
It has elite native audio when a generation lands, but it has fallen out of the practical top tier. In our tests it ignored camera directions, floated its lens flares, and broke continuity. Most creators now reach for Seedance or Kling.
What is the cheapest way to use Kling 3.0?
Higgsfield's Creator plan offers unlimited Kling 3.0 generations for a week, which is the most cost-effective way to run it heavily. But if you want the best pricing without any markup, get it from Kling's official website.
Which AI video model is best for text and motion graphics?
Gemini Omni. Its in-video text and typography are the best available, which makes it the go-to for explainers, kinetic type, and Vox-style motion-graphics videos.
What is the best open-source AI video model?
Happy Horse 1.1 from Alibaba is the standout open-weights model, strong on cinematics though less consistent on physics.
OpinionThe Empire State Building Proposal: AI Slop Ate the Climb
A daredevil couple scaled the world's most famous skyscraper and proposed at the top. Within hours, AI fakes and brand tie-ins had swallowed the moment whole. Look closely and it is the entire attention economy in a single frame, feeding on itself.
